🇷🇺 Russia and ASEAN Prepare New Five-Year Strategic Partnership Agreement

Russia and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) are set to initiate a new five-year strategic partnership agreement, building upon the existing Comprehensive Plan of Action (CPA) that guided their cooperation from 2021 to 2025. This forthcoming agreement aims to further strengthen political, economic, and socio-cultural ties between Russia and ASEAN member states.
The new plan is expected to focus on enhancing trade relations, promoting investment, and fostering closer collaboration in areas such as energy, technology, and infrastructure development. Both parties are committed to upholding the principles of mutual respect and non-interference in each other’s internal affairs, ensuring a balanced and equitable partnership.
This initiative reflects Russia’s ongoing efforts to diversify its international partnerships and engage more deeply with the dynamic economies of Southeast Asia. The agreement is anticipated to be finalized in the coming months, with implementation slated to commence in 2026.
